Every three years, during the meeting of the national General Council meeting, United Church folks of all ages and stages participate in a 5K walk/run/roll to raise money for the Alvin Dixon Memorial Fund. Alvin Dixon was a repected elder of the Heiltsuk First Nation. and a survivor of the Alberni Residential School. This fund, established in his name, helps Indigenous people access post-secondary education in relegious or continuing education centres.
